“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.” -Psalm 23
God speaks in the most mysterious ways. We hope and pray in him and most of the time our prayers are not answered the way we think they should be. This reminds me of being a young child at Christmas. Most years I always got what I wanted, but there were some years I was left waiting for something more.
I know the Lord promises great things to those who trust in him. And I am reminded of this by this simple, yet beautiful verse, “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.” These words resonate with me, I think mostly because the Christmas season is upon us and I swore I “wouldn’t go another year without having a baby at Christmas.” Two years later and I am still speaking those same words.
God reminds us in our season of waiting that all hope, joy, and love resides in him. We must hold on to these words, cling to them and hold them in our hearts, until the most precious gift is there to take that place.
