“In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength.” (Isaiah 30:15)
I sit in a silent house for too many nights in a row. All I can hear is the quiet hum of the house fan, a car or two passing by outside, or the wind whistling through the trees.
I walk past a silent bedroom, one that is meant for noise. The kind of noise that I long for, the place where life is supposed to breath and be a part of this world. This room sits empty waiting for a noise, a beautiful echoing sound that will one day bounce off its walls.
I sit in silence for this time. This time of life where the waiting doesn’t seem to make sense. I sit, quietly in the wait. I wish for some sort of thought to run through my mind, to help pass this deafening silence.
Finally, there it is… You. My mind trusts in the thought of you and your hopeful existence. I wait for one day when your sound will fill these quiet moments.
Days pass in a quiet house, a lonely house. I sit here waiting for you…just waiting for your life to permeate the silence.
